LA CROSSE, WI (WKBT) -

The La Crosse County Holiday Project is matching people in need with community members who can help.

County social workers identify people who may need help, then start a list of things that person needs.

That includes clothing, household necessities and a holiday wish list. They try and match people with community members before thanksgiving so they can take advantage of Black Friday deals. But they are always in need of help.

"Especially the early part of December through the middle of December, we have new families that are coming into town, we have new clients that are referred for services, so there is never a time that we don't need somebody to call in,” said Lindsey Scwarz-Nichols, of La Crosse County Holiday Project.

Scwarz-Nichols says they expect about 1,000 people will need assistance this year and so far they have about 130 community members to help.

If you would like to help with this program you can call La Crosse County at (608) 784-HELP. You can also email them at holidayfgs@lacrossecounty.org.
