LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

La Crosse County wants to get our kids more active everyday, including in the classroom.

Monday, health educators hosted a workshop for elementary school teachers in La Crosse. A UW-La Crosse Physical Education Professor led the teachers in a series of quick activities they could integrate into their daily lessons.

Health educators say even getting up for two minutes can do wonders for school work. "And boom they're back, and they're focused," said Rebecca Lakowske from La Crosse County, "it really helps to, behavior problems are decreased and test scores go up when kids are moving around so they get their energy out, the blood is flowing, and they're excited to learn then."

Two more of these workshops are planned for Wednesday. One is in Onalaska, the other at Bangor. It's open to all elementary school teachers, just sign up here on the Get Active La Crosse website.
