LA CROSSE, WI -

La Crosse County officials will not appeal the decision to have Trisha Stratman reinstated as a sheriff's deputy.

Stratman was put on leave July 20, 2010 after a crash that killed Holmen High School senior Brandon Jennings.

Last month, an arbitrator sided in favor of Stratman's appeal to be re-instated as a sheriff's deputy and be awarded nearly two years of back pay.

At Thursday night's La Crosse County Board meeting, members opted not to appeal the ruling because they don't believe they have the grounds to win the case.

"The grounds to appeal an arbitration decision are very narrow and they have to do more with misconduct of some type by the arbitrator rather than weighing the merits of the case, so it's very limited and the grounds just aren't present in this case," says David Lange, corporation counsel for La Crosse County.
