LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Officials in La Crosse are asking for the community's help in coming up with a master plan for improvements to the Highway 53 corridor.

City planners continue to think of ways to make improvement to the area between I-90 and the La Crosse River which city leaders have called the 'Gateway to La Crosse.'

The planning department already has a few ideas for the project but wants to hear the opinions of people who spend most of their time in that part of town.

"There's things that we don't know, which is why we want to hear from them. You know, we want to hear from the people that work there, live there, play there, they know more than we do," said senior planner Tim Acklin.

The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Thursday night at Northside Elementary in La Crosse and runs until 8.

This is just the first of what planners expect to be several planning meetings for the project.
