La Crosse city officials discussing bus route change, new stop on north side
New businesses moving in near the old La Crosse Footwear Factory on La Crosse's north side leads to consideration of changing the nearby bus route.
A city committee discussed altering route five, which goes between Downtown and Valley View Mall, by making an extra stop.
The MTU Manager says the route often runs late already and additional stops would only make the problem worse.
The committee will rely on a study that will be conducted next year to determine the need and how to best address it. "There are more and more offices being located there and more and more need for folks utilizing the transit to see if it makes sense to move the bus route off of George Street up into, closer to the rubber mills and also to serve the Indian Hill neighborhood," said Mayor Tim Kabat.
The city has a news conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon to talk about new development happening in that area.
