City of La Crosse employees are making sure kids in need have a gift to open this holiday season.

For the fifth straight year, the city is teaming up with the La Crosse School District and donating toys and other gifts for students in need.

Every city department is taking part, and the mayor says the program continues to grow every year.

The district says there is a real need in our community and they are happy to see the city step up. "I feel like the collaboration between the city and the school district just really shows how caring this community is and how, when we come together and show an act of compassion, it really makes a big difference," said La Crosse School District Social Worker Alicia Place.

More than 100 students were identified by the district and will receive a gift this year.
