LA CROSSE, WI (WKBT) -

Railroad fanatics rolled into La Crosse today for one of the region's largest hobby sales.

The 23rd annual Great Tri-State Rail Sale filled the La Crosse Center's South Hall with more than 200 vendors. The show featured everything from antique trains to railroad art. Event organizers say the sale sheds light on the importance of railroads in La Crosse's history.

"We kind of like to think of it as a celebration of our railroad heritage here,” said Mark Hamre, president of the 4-Thousand Foundation. “At the same time, we're raising funds to help us maintain and restore the La Crosse short line railroad museum in Copeland Park."

Money from the event will also go toward restoring the steam locomotive on display in Copeland Park.
