Habitat for Humanity La Crosse area has purchased a building off of Highway 16 near the La Crosse County Solid Waste Department/Landfill.
The Habitat ReStore and Habitat’s main offices will be housed in the new building, at 3181 Berlin Drive in La Crosse.
The purchase comes at the end of a nearly two-year search for a new building. Habitat for Humanity said it needed more retail space and an expanded parking lot. The Habitat ReStore will continue to operate at its current location, 434 Third Street South in downtown La Crosse, through the fall of 2014.
“Thanks to the new, easily accessible location, larger retail space, and additional parking, we feel optimistic that we’ll be able to increase the volume of donations and sales, and we hope to attract even more shoppers, volunteers, and donors,” said ReStore Manager Steve Baker.
Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area had launched a $400,000 capital campaign to help fund the move and the new building.
“We couldn’t have taken this important step without the support of our community. The outpouring of monetary donations and commitments has been tremendous,” Amanda Acklin, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area said in a statement.
