A local animal hospital is making sure people in need have food for their pets this holiday. It's part of Hillside Animal Hospital's annual pet food drive.
They collected more than 3,000 pounds of food which they donated to WAFER food pantry.
WAFER says pet food donations are a "rare commodity" at the food shelf and the 3,000 pounds should last them the next two to three months. "A lot of the people who have to utilize WAFER for their own needs have pets that need food too and if they're having problems taking care of themselves, they're having problems taking care of their pets," said Robert Spencer from Hillside.
This is the fourth year Hillside has held the drive and they say the donations grow every year.
