LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

An annual event to honor people with disabilities was held Saturday in La Crosse.

The La Crosse Kiwanis club hosted a Special Day for Special People event in the Oktoberfest Shelter at Copeland Park.

The event featured food, prizes, fire trucks, race cars and hayrides.

The event brings together people families and caregivers with those with disabilities.

Organizers say it's an important day for those with disabilities.

"This is just a day that they don't usually get. I mean, they don't have anything special that goes on for them so we just try to make this day a day to remember for them every year. And some of them will talk about it for months on end. They come here every year and enjoy this," Carol Porath, Kiwanis club member, said.

Close to 90 guests attended Saturday.
