JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) -

The Jackson County man accused of killing his Black River Falls girlfriend before running away to Milwaukee has pleaded not guilty.

At his preliminary hearing in December, 37-year-old Michael Harmon was bound over for trial. He has been charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of Angela Nelson.

In June, Nelson was found shot to death in the bathtub of her Black River Falls home. Harmon said a gun went off during a struggle with Nelson. A medical examiner says the gun was not shot at close range.

Harmon appeared in court briefly in Jackson County Court Monday morning. The defense filed a demand for discovery and inspection and a motion for the disposition of a witness.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 19 and a status conference on April 7.
