Iowa Senate committee to review juvenile home
The Iowa Senate Government Oversight Committee is set to discuss problems at the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo.
The committee will meet Tuesday morning and hear from several parties, including the head of Iowa's Department of Human Services and from the executive director of Disability Rights Iowa.
Disability Rights Iowa is a federally funded group that has been investigating treatment of children at the home, including allegations that some children were held for weeks or months in small isolation rooms.
Gov. Terry Branstad has said his administration is addressing the problems and is committed to a higher standard of care.
