IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -

Iowa community college leaders say they are ready to announce a new partnership to work with companies to improve the state's manufacturing workforce.

Representatives from all 15 Iowa community colleges are expected to attend a press conference Thursday in Iowa City at the headquarters of ACT, the nonprofit that administers the college assessment exam and other education and career programs.

A press release from Kirkwood Community College says the "first-of-its-kind partnership and employer engagement initiative" is meant to strengthen the talent pipeline of advanced manufacturing workers in Iowa.

In addition to community college presidents, speakers are expected to include representatives of ACT, the Vermeer Corp., Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
