LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Odds are your collection of household electronics is growing or getting an update this holiday season and that means more devices that need to be recycled.

A United Nations report says that E-Waste will grow dramatically over the next three years.

Right now, almost 49 million tons is recycled worldwide. The UN projects that to be more than 65 million by 2017.

Dynamic Recycling in La Crosse sees about 12 million pounds every year. Its CEO Miles Harter isn't sure the weight will go up that quick.

"Flat panels obviously have been around for a while, but the lighter devices, I mean, you get a TV that's 40-some-inches, that's going to be probably 15-20-percent less weight than it might have been three years ago," Harter said.

Harter says while the weight's not going up, there's been a definite increase in number of items being recycled.
