LA CROSSE, WI -

The first half of 2013 saw a stronger housing market in Wisconsin.

Sales rose more than 11% in the first six months. That makes it 24 straight months of growth in the state.

In La Crosse, those numbers are even better. Sales are up 24% in that same timeframe.

The La Crosse Area Realtors Association says the boost comes from confidence in the economy, good interest rates, and an easier time borrowing money.

"Overall much better and I think what we're doing is, in the past two years or so is building a base or a foundation to drive a housing market that is sustainable and that is responsible," says Mike Pietrek, president of the La Crosse Area Realtors Association.

The median price of a home is also going up. Pietrek says that means people are starting to buy more expensive houses.
