LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

The owner of the iconic Hollywood Theater in downtown La Crosse still hopes to open it up by this summer.

Owner Phil Addis has been working to repair the marquee since an electrical fire damaged it last August. On Friday, he turned it on, but two letters immediately burned out.

Once those lights are shining again, there's still plenty of work to be done. "Our next step now will be to get our historic tax credit approval, hopefully, so we can finish our work. And then also we can secure our financing for the building so we can finish our work," said Addis.

He guesses they'll start working on the inside in five or six weeks.

So far, all of the seats for the main floor have been purchased, there's a contract for the audio-visual equipment, and he has a lead on concession stand pieces.
