LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Community stories about downtown La Crosse could be heard thanks a newly proposed project.

"Hear, Here" is a program that would link specific areas in the downtown to personal experiences from community members.

Signs would be placed around downtown with phone numbers on them. If you called one of those numbers, you would hear a story from a member of the community about that area.

It's an opportunity for people to share their experiences with each other while continuing to add to the historic value.

"Now we get to tell our story. The everyday average person of La Crosse gets to add to the history of the space that we exist in everyday," said UW-La Crosse History Professor Ariel Beaujot.

The project is now waiting to hear back from grants.

If everything is approved, the project will begin in September.
