Hacker forces city of Waukee to shut down website
Two attacks by a hacker forced the city of Waukee to briefly shut down its website.
The Des Moines Register says hacking incidents occurred Sunday and Monday. City Administrator Tim Moerman told the Register that financial information was not taken.
A notice on the website said briefly that the city was "experiencing technical difficulties with the website." It was restored Wednesday morning.
City planner Ben Landhauser says the website is secure, and officials are working toward a long-term plan to keep it that way.
Waukee sits on the west edge of the Des Moines metropolitan area.
