LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - A local non-profit organization celebrated a milestone Saturday.

Habitat for Humanity of the La Crosse area is celebrating 25 years in the community.

The organization, was started in 1992 and helps build affordable housing for those in need.

As a way to celebrate, the organization hosted an open house anniversary celebration at the Habitat ReStore Saturday.

The free event included games, food, music, and raffle prizes.

The celebration was a way to say thanks to those who have supported the charity.

"As we're looking back over the past 25 years, we're very proud of what we've done and how we've done that with the help and support of the community," Kahya Fox, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of the La Crosse Area said.

"We wouldn't have built 42 homes without the volunteers and supporters that we've had over the years. So this little house party just a thank you back again to the community for the help in letting us get here where we are  today."

Since 1992 the organization has built 42 homes and has helped more than 100 families with home repairs.
