LA CROSSE, WI (WKBT) -

Gundersen Health System in La Crosse is lending a hand keeping people warm this winter.

The nursing department's "Wrapping the Community in Warmth" campaign collects blankets for people in need.

The blankets will help hospital patients, along with other organizations like New Horizons women's shelter and the St. Clare Health Mission.

In the 8 years of the program. they have collected more than 6,000 blankets. This year, their goal is 1,000."We're on our way, though we have a shortened time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year so we're working really fast and furious and really need the community to partner with us to reach our goal," said Kathy Koehne from Gundersen.

You can drop off your donation at any Gundersen Clinic or at one of the valet parking locations on the Gundersen campus.
