Smokers were getting some extra encouragement to kick the habit Thursday. It was the annual Great American Smokeout.
It's put on by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to set a date and plan to quit, and then reach out for resources that can help. "We have over a million smokers in Wisconsin that still need our help and our support in quitting. It also raises some awareness, I hope, that we have young people who smoke and also need our help in quitting tobacco products. We know that 70% of smokers want to quit," said health educator Judi Zabel.
