Firefighters had to fight there way up the bluffs to contain a grass fire near Dakota late Thursday afternoon.
It started just before 4:00 p.m. up the hill from the 400 block of Hiawatha Hills.
The Dakota fire chief says someone was burning brush and lost control.
No one was hurt and no buildings were damaged.
However, the terrain made it difficult for the firefighters to contain it. "Very steep hill, that was the problem when it started climbing, it climbed and we were trying to catch up to it," said Dakota Fire Chief Scott Hoeg.
Firefighters had to walk most of the way up the bluffs to find the fire. The chief says the fire stopped once it got to the top of the hill.
Crews from Dakota, La Crescent, Nodine, Pickwick, Tri-State Ambulance, and the Winona Co. Sheriff's Dept. responded to the fire.
