Governor Scott Walker issued a proclamation marking Saturday as Hunting and Fishing Day.

National Hunting and Fishing Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Saturday of September to promote outdoor sporting activities and conservation.

“Outdoor sports, such as hunting and fishing, are an important part of Wisconsin’s heritage,” Governor Walker said in a statement. “Hunting and Fishing Day is not only an opportunity to celebrate a unique part of our state’s history and traditions, but also a way to appreciate the conservation efforts and natural resource management that make these activities possible.”
