UW-La Crosse Police say they were less busy than they expected to be on the first weekend of Oktoberfest.
The chief says the 76 alcohol-related citations his officers handed out is down almost 25% from last year.
Also, there are no reports of sexual assault or major vandalism on campus. However, they still had to take six people to detox and arrest three people for drunk driving.
Overall, the chief says he's pleased with how the weekend went. "We had planned for something similar to last year, we were pleasantly surprised that we were a little bit lower on the numbers and definitely the staff commented that they were happier with the cooperation," said UW-L Police Chief Scott Rhode.
The chief says maintaining the no-guest policy in the residence halls kept the campus significantly calmer.
