LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A La Crosse warming shelter is re-opening its doors and is need of the community's help.

Wesley United Methodist Church on 7th and King Streets kept its shelter open Wednesday night after closing last week.

When the shelter was open, volunteers had to turn guests away because of overcrowding.

For a short time, the Salvation Army did take in many of those left in the cold, but shelter organizers say several had to spend the night in parking ramps.

There are lots of ways you can help. The shelter needs supplies like pillow cases, food, and water. Organizers say they also need volunteers to do laundry and covering nightly shifts.
