LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The recent conditions have increased the fire danger in our area.

The DNR lists almost the entire state of Wisconsin at a very high fire danger right now. That includes La Crosse.

The low humidity and the breezy conditions are keeping things very dry and making it tough to control any fires that do break out.

The huge wildfire in Douglas Co., Wisconsin is a great example. It's the biggest brush fire in the state in 33 years.

People in La Crosse are urged not to have any fires right now, and on DNR protected land, they've taken it a step further. "Currently in the area's of protection, we are in a burning ban, so all burn permits have been suspended and no DNR folks are doing any prescribed burning as well," said Sue Crowley from the DNR.
