DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -

The Salvation Army in Des Moines is warning Iowa residents to be on the lookout for fundraising scams that claim to be helping in the effort to help tornado victims in Oklahoma.

The Salvation Army says it has learned of robo-calls asking for donations to go toward tornado disaster relief in Oklahoma. The pitch includes references to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, saying those organizations are "on the site working, and we need more funds to keep help coming."

The Salvation Army says it does not solicit funds using automated phone calls.

Anyone receiving such a call is asked to contact The Salvation Army in Des Moines at 515-282-3599.
