A hearty breakfast and an inside look at a dairy farm is giving people a chance to see where their food comes from.

It was all thanks to the annual La Crosse County Dairy Breakfast Saturday in La Crosse at Todd and Jeff Servais dairy farm. Despite the dreary morning, about 2,500 people turned out for the pancake breakfast. Their meal included everything from pancakes, to sausages, and of course cheese curds.

It wasn't just a home cooked meal that brought people out, they also got an inside look at how a local dairy farm operates.

"These farm families are opening up their farm to literally hundreds and sometimes thousands of their neighbors in the county. The kids can come and see the milking parlor, they can kind of see the stanchions, and city kids can come and see where their food is grown, and where it comes from," said, Wisconsin's Democratic state Senator, Jennifer Shilling.

About 100 volunteers helped put on the breakfast.
