An area dairy farmer is announcing a run for state Assembly this week.
Pete Flesch has served on the Crawford County Board for more than a decade and is hoping to make the jump from local to state politics. Flesch has lived his entire life on his family's 250-acre farm outside Soldier's Grove. After retiring from the fields this year, he's announced his candidacy for the 96th Assembly district - which includes Vernon, Crawford, and parts of Monroe County.
Flesch says he wants to fight against political gridlock he sees too often in the Capitol.
"I would look to work across the aisle with anybody who has a good idea, with anything that really makes sense,” he said. “I think it doesn't make any difference what the party affiliation is. A good idea is still a good idea."
Flesch will take on incumbent Republican Lee Nerison in the November election.
