Another beer business is looking to open doors in La Crosse's downtown, but this one hopes to appeal to a different crowd.
Turtle Stack Brewery filed a conditional use permit with the city.
The brewery wants to move into the former Markos clothing store which has been vacant for about five years.
Instead of acting like the other downtown bars, it would brew craft beers to be distributed in kegs around the area.
It would also have a tasting room with the intention of bringing in an older crowd to the downtown. "Well, it's good for downtown not to have empty storefronts, I think just having more foot traffic and people investing in downtown is a great thing," said City Planner Larry Kirch.
The permit needs to go through one more committee before the full city council votes on it later this month.
