Interstate drivers crossing the border should be prepared for a slow down starting next week.
Construction on the I-90 bridge will cut traffic down to one lane each way starting next Tuesday, April 15.
It will also close the westbound exit for Highway 61 heading to La Crescent. Drivers will have to go up to Dresbach and turn around.
The nearly 200 million dollar project is replacing the bridge. The closure will allow crews to do so safely. "That keeps us from getting into situations where we have lane closures or devices out on the roadway during snow and inclement weather," said Project Manager Ben Lovin from Ames Construction.
"There's going to be a lot of people working out there, a lot of trucks, so we ask people slow down and pay attention while they're driving through the project," said MnDOT Project Manager Mark Anderson.
The lanes will be closed through part of November.
