The city of Onalaska is looking to create a partnership with its school district.
City officials met Monday night to discuss the possibility of helping plan the construction of two new school gymnasiums.
The partnership would allow the school gyms to be open for public programs without having to keep the rest of the building open.
City officials say the partnership would be good for both the city and the school district. "When we use the gyms at any of the schools, they have to pay janitors and things to be there. And so if we can get the gyms constructed possibly in a way we can use them without having the rest of the school open, it could save the school district money," said Onalaska Park and Rec Director Dan Wick.
He says the city uses the district's gymnasiums about 3 to 4 times a week.
