An area task force looking to keep kids safe online asked for the community's help Monday.
The Coulee Region Children's Internet Protection Task Force held a fundraiser at the La Crosse Family Restaurant to improve their equipment. The goal was to raise $5,000.
Funds will be used to upgrade the Task Force's cell phone software. The new software would help in analyzing evidence to catch predators through cell phone use.
It's a move organizers say is necessary. "Cell phones change daily, there's new technology, new phones and for us to be able to analyze them within a case and be able to get evidence, it's hard for us to be able to keep up with that technology," said Crystal Sedevie, Co-Chair of the Coulee Region Children's Internet Protection Task Force.
Any extra funds would be used to help educate kids about how to use the internet safely.
