Hundreds of blue lanterns were released into the evening sky on Sunday to raise awareness about Autism.
It's part of the "Light it Up Blue" event held at Fox Hollow Golf Course.
Organizers with the La Crosse Area Autism Foundation say about 500 people came out to light a lantern. The event also provided information on different services in the area.
Liesl Jordan and Kara Schuster of the La Crosse Area Autism Foundation say it's an important time for families to build community and support each other.
"It's kind of to let the people in the area know what's around you know what services are available for their child becuase when my child was diagnosed I had no idea so we hope to help the families especially the new families find out what they need to know."
Organizers say they held the event in April because it's Autism Awareness month.
They say one in 50 children are now diagnosed with Autism.
