Black River Correctional escapee sentenced
James Newman sentenced to 10 years in prison
The Black River Falls man who walked away from a low security correctional camp last year and went on a crime spree will spend time in prison.
A federal judge sentenced 30-year-old James Newman Tuesday to 10 years in prison for unlawfully possessing a shotgun as a felon.
In July of last year, Newman and co-defendant James Mislevick walked away from the Black River Correctional Camp, kidnapped a woman, and stole a shotgun as they began a crime spree that led to Florida.
Mislevick was sentenced to 15 years in prison back in April.
