The Big Blue Dragon Boat Race is coming back to Riverfest and is expected to be bigger than last year.
This will be the second year for the event. Organizers have doubled the number of teams that can enter from 30 to 60.
The race celebrates breast cancer survivors and pits teams from the community against one another while paddling traditional Hong-Kong style boats down the Mississippi River.
While the strength of team members is important, organizers say it's teamwork that will bring home the gold. "Our mantra is one paddle, one boat. Every paddle needs to enter the water at the same time, and every paddle needs to exit the water at the same time," said Mayo Clinic Health System's Health Promotions Director Lori Freit-Hammes.
The races are Saturday, July 5th during Riverfest.
All the proceeds stay local, benefiting breast cancer treatment and prevention.
