BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -

Prosecutors say a Beloit man used a hammer to kill his father because his parents were moving and he would have no place to live.

Police say Peter Hemmy told investigators he was angry with his parents because they were moving to an apartment from their home and he could no longer live with them.

Beloit Daily News reports 30-year Peter Hemmy is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his 58-year-old father Bruce Hemmy.

A criminal complaint says Hemmy went to the Beloit Police Department around 1:45 a.m. on Monday where he told an officer that he had killed his father by striking him in the head "three or four times" with a hammer.

Police went to the home and found the father's body. The complaint says Hemmy told investigators he "kind of regretted" killing his father.
