LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Trying something new was the name of the game at a festival in La Crosse.

The Between the Bluffs Beer, Wine and Cheese Festival gave people a chance to try more than 200 beers, 40 wines and a variety of cheeses.

It's a fundraiser for nine local groups including the Mount La Crosse Ski Patrol and the Town of Campbell First Responders.

It's also a great way for smaller vendors to get their name and product some publicity.

"Beer fests in general in Wisconsin and all over the Midwest are really kind of on the rise. They're a really fun time and always try to incorporate a little bit of music but it's great exposure for us because a lot of people come from out of town and they've probably never tried our beer," said Pearl Street Brewery beer ambassador Dillon Beyer.

Admission to the event cost $35 and was on a first come first serve basis.

Organizers say it didn't take long for the event to sell out.
