LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

The Mississippi River is full of boats and nationally recognized fishers this weekend.

The Bassmaster Elite tournament returns to La Crosse for the first time in three years. The tournament pits more than 100 of the country's best bass anglers against each other.

While the tournament may not be coming back next year, organizers say they hope to return soon.

"Most times we give a place a two to three year break. We like to do that, we like to spread the love, and we have a lot of demand for our tournament, so we can't accommodate everyone, but we love being here,” said Bassmaster Elite Tournament Director Trip Weldo.

The tournament also includes games and prizes for attendees.

Explore La Crosse is hosting the Fish Hook music festival Friday at Copeland Park.
