MINNEAPOLIS -

The head of the Archdiocese in Saint Paul and Minneapolis is stepping aside because of an abuse allegation.

Archbishop John Nienstedt will step aside from public ministry after allegations he inappropriately touched a boy during a group photo in 2009.

The Archbishop strongly denies the allegation, but will step aside while it is being investigated. Archbishop Nienstedt released a statement regarding the allegation on the Archdiocese website

The chief of Police says the archdiocese has not been cooperating.

The accusation comes as the archdiocese deals with a wider clergy abuse scandal. Earlier this month the archdiocese released the names of 33 priests accused of abusing children.
