Another step is being taken toward restoring La Crosse's
Myrick Park Zoo.
MYRICK PARK, LA CROSSE
The 'Myrick Park Community Group' just installed a
sign at the former duck pond site.
The sign encourages people to make donations for a
project to restore the pond to what it looked like
before falling into dis-use.
and dis- repair.
The duck *house* on the site was designated a 'historic
structure' earlier this year.
It was designed by the same architect who helped create
the bandshell at Riverside Park.
structures at Pettibone.
and many older homes in our area.
It's very significant to La Crosse.
If you look at the little structure, everything is
very unique in every way.
It just makes sense for the city to have it restored
and keep it a historical structure.
Members of the 'Myrick Park Community Group' say restoring
the duck pond is the first step in a long-term plan
to bring back the old Myrick zoo.
The next step would be to add playground equipment.
possibly kids rides.
and *then* the zoo.
