500 local families struggling financially will receive Christmas gifts from people in the community.
The La Crosse Salvation Army's "Angel Giving Tree" is wrapping up.
The organization is very excited to announce all of the tags on the tree at Valley View Mall were taken by community members.
On the tag was the name of a child who is in need of a Christmas gift. "So, it was very exciting to see the way the community has stepped up and just had such big hearts to help kids in need at Christmas time. They've taken all the tags and they're out shopping for gifts now. Most of the gifts have come back, but there are still a few out in the community and we want to get those gifts back," said Julie Nelson of the Salvation Army.
The gifts purchased for the "Angel Giving Tree" were supposed to be returned Friday.
They will be delivered to families December 18th at the Onalaska Armory.
