EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -

Xcel Energy is sending more crews from Wisconsin to help victims of Superstorm Sandy.

On Monday, seven Xcel Energy natural gas employees from Eau Claire will go to West Hampstead, New York, where they will be performing service work on gas meters and relighting residents’ appliances as service is restored.

Xcel Energy said it received the request for assistance from the American Gas Association. The crews will join 18 Xcel Energy employees from Minnesota. The deployment is expected to last for two weeks.

On October 31, Xcel Energy sent 230 employees and contractors from its four operating companies, including 46 employees and 30 contractors from Wisconsin and Minnesota to help restore electricity in parts of West Virginia. By Election Day, crews moved on to Long Island, New York, where they continue to work.
