Wisconsin mom pleads guilty to leaving kids in hot car
KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- A Racine mother accused of leaving her young children in a hot car while she visited a tanning salon has pleaded guilty to three charges.
Twenty-six-year-old Yolanda E. Kruse pleaded guilty Thursday to bail jumping and two counts of child neglect. A Kenosha News report says she faces nearly five years in prison when she's sentenced in February.
The allegations date back to May 2009, a week after Kruse had given birth. A criminal complaint says Kruse told police she wanted to look better after the delivery so she went tanning.
Prosecutors say she left the week-old boy and a 22-month-old girl in a car. Even with the windows down, temperatures inside the vehicle topped 100 degrees. The children weren't hurt.
Kruse's attorney didn't immediately return a message Friday.
