Winter Rec-Fest Button Design Unveiled

LA CROSSE, Wis. -

 Despite the slight warm up, the 27th annual Winter Rec Fest kicks off next week.

Monday, the overall button design contest winner was announced. 6 year old Sierra Fried won this year's honor.

Winter Rec Fest offers a variety of winter-time activities for people young and old.

The fest includes a fishing derby, kickball and many other activities including something new this year.  "This year the Snowshoe scamper. The 5k-10k snowshoe race is new this year. Doing it at Forest Hills up and down the trials," said Recreation Coordinator Jared Flick.

Winter Rec Fest buttons cost $2 and can be purchased at Green Island Ice Arena, City Hall, La Crosse Parks & Rec Office, Southside Neighborhood Center, and the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center.

The event kicks off next Wednesday with the Snowflake Medallion Hunt.
