WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) -

The city of Winona is getting grant money to make their community more dementia-friendly.

The Winona City Council unanimously voted in favor of a seven- thousand dollar grant last night to make the city a safer place for people living with dementia.

The funding will go towards surveying businesses and the community to determine how knowledgeable the area is about dementia... and any efforts to make it more accessible to dementia patients.

City officials say their next move will be surveying the community to determine where change will have the most impact on the lives of people with dementia.
