Manufacturing and technology students at Western Technical College have a new home Wednesday.
The campus held a grand opening for the new Integrated Technology Center in La Crosse Wednesday afternoon. The four-story building will house a manufacturing center and space for nearly 30 of the school's programs. And the top floor will also offer the college's new on-site academics for high school students to gain college credits.
Along with the additional space, the new facility allows faculty to expand on their teaching techniques.
"Getting into the building automation software, getting into sustainable building practices. We didn't have that to learn from in the past, in the old facilities. We have it here, so it's really being able to elevate what we're exposing our students to every day, and what we're exposing our community to every day,” said Western Technical College Integrated Technology Division Dean Josh Gamer.
The Integrated Technology Center is the largest part of Western's Vision 20-20 project.
