The warm weather is stopping ski hills across the state from opening.
Mt. La Crosse officials say it's been a few years since they've been able to open Thanksgiving Weekend. They were hopeful after last week's cold temperatures and tried to make snow, but it's all but melted away.
No official opening day will be set until the snow starts to stick. "We're hoping within the next week or two, about a couple of days ago we picked the first as our target date, we're still hanging onto that, it kind of depends on what mother nature gives us," said Mt. La Crosse's Marketing Director Darcie Breidel.
Ski officials plan to try making snow again early next week. They want to have most if not all of the runs open by the week of Christmas.
