As we continue into the holiday season, the Salvation Army is still looking for bell ringers throughout the area. In Winona, there are three locations.
The kettle organizer tells us all too often the buckets are sitting empty which means the organization is losing upwards of $2,000 a day.
Eventually, she hopes to expand to five locations in the city, but can't until she finds more volunteers. "When people are at the kettles, the donations have been wonderful, the money coming in has been great, so it's not that people aren't donating, it's just we don't have the people at the kettles that we are needing," said kettle coordinator Holly Puetz.
90% of the money dropped into the kettles stays local which was estimated to be about $17,000 last year.
