We may be experiencing above-average temperatures
but a cold start to this past spring is causing Governor
Scott Walker to ask for a disaster designation.
Freezing temperatures in May caused significant damage
to crops like grapes .
and berries .
because they were already blooming when the freeze
Walker is asking the U-S Department of Agriculture
for the disaster designation to help farmers recover
from some of their losses for the season.
A total of 10 counties that saw losses of 30 percent
or greater are included in Walker's request .
including Jackson .
and Eau Claire counties.
